Why Choose a Pet-Luxury Bed for your Dog?
The best choice of bed for your dog
If you want to pamper your dog with incomparable comfort and contentment, our Avondale range of luxury dog beds is exactly what your dog needs. Our beautifully stylish dog beds are thoughtfully designed around the needs of dogs, big or small, and caringly handmade in England in our Lancashire textile mill, using premium materials that offer exceptional support and cushioning.
What should you look for in a dog bed?
The bed you lovingly buy for your dog can be a Haven that he loves if you make the right choice, or it can be a place he hates and avoids if you make the wrong choice.
Our Pet Luxury Dog Beds offer you the following in our Avondale range:
Safety and Comfort
Our luxury dog beds have a soft, yet firm, orthopaedic foam mattress that supports the dog’s joints, spreads his weight evenly, and allows him to snuggle in his bed with great contentment.
Some dogs prefer soft beds, while others prefer harder beds. Our luxury dog beds offer the perfect balance. The foam is firm enough to satisfy Rambo, yet yields in all the right places for perfect support and gentle hugging.
Our orthopaedic beds are designed specially to provide the right care and support for puppies, older dogs, and dogs with hip or joint problems.
Our mattresses are made from a single piece of foam to keep their shape and prevent them from bundling up in certain spots and leaving other spots flat and unprotected.
The plush double sided fleece lining will caress your dog, keeping him warm in winter and comfy in summer because it breathes properly.
The low front entrance allows easy access so your dog does not have to strain sore muscles or painful hips to get into bed.
Our top quality fabrics are not treated with chemicals and are all perfectly hypoallergenic so skin irritations and allergies are not aggravated to cause discomfort.
The non slip base makes sure the bed will not slide around when he gets into bed or out of it. It also ensures your safety that the bed does not slip out from under you if you were to step on it in the dark.
The base provides excellent insulation to shield your dog from rising cold or dampness.
The lining is waterproof to keep your dog dry if water floods the floor through the gap under the door or when he trudges in mud. When he has a toilet mishap, it is also reversible so you can quickly change the bed to let him sleep dry and in comfort for the rest of the night. The waterproof cover and lining also protect the mattress, keeping it pristine for a long time.
The bolstered sides provide comfortable neck and head support. Dogs need their own sanctuary where they feel secure, and the bolstered sides simulate a cosy den where your dog can enjoy a calming rest or sleep. The raised sides also shield your dog from draughts.
For puppies, the soft fleece and bolstered sides let them feel they are cuddling up to mommy, making them feel warm, comfortable, and welcome.
Always choose the right size
The dog bed should be the right dimensions for your dog so his legs don’t stick out over the edges. However, that involves much more than just the size of the dog.
He should be able to lie down comfortably and move about, without being intimidated by the size of a bed that is too big. Consider the following factors when choosing the right size bed for your dog:
- Size of your dog. Measure from the nose to the base of the tail and add 8 to 10 inches.
- Anatomy of your dog. For instance, a Poodle with long legs, weighing 40lbs, will need a bed twice the size of a Bulldog or Terrier of the same weight.
- Type of coat. A dog with a shaggy coat may overheat in a cramped space and need more space for ventilation.
- Type of sleeper. Does your dog like to stretch out or curl up? Does he move about a lot? Does he flap his paws while dreaming? He needs enough room to accommodate these habits.
- The weight of your dog will also be a factor in choosing the right type and size of dog bed, particularly in raised beds and the type of mattress.
- Naps and relaxation. The dog bed is not only a place in which to sleep. Your dog will retreat for “me time” when he is stressed or tired, and he will also want to have fun and play in his bed.
Our Haven range of Pet Luxury Dog Beds offers up to six sizes in each shape and style of bed, from extra small to 2X extra large for every breed, size and age of the dog.
Shape of your dog’s bed
The shape of your dog’s bed has much more to do with comfort than mere aesthetics. While a round or oval bed may seem cuter, it may not be the right shape for your dog.
Generally, larger dogs and dogs that like to sprawl out will prefer rectangular or oval beds that give them more space to do that.
Dogs that curl up and prefer to feel cuddled and secure may prefer the cocoon effect of round or square beds.
Here are some guidelines to help you choose:
Rectangular and square dog beds
Your dog’s comfort remains the top priority. Rectangular dog beds have plenty of space for your dog to stretch out and move about, with the bolstered edges protecting them from injury or falling off the bed.
Square and rectangular beds fit snugly into the corners of your house and it is a lot easier to find bed covers and other accessories for them. If space is at a premium, square and rectangular beds take up less floor space than round or oval beds.
Square and rectangular beds are usually easier to move around the house and to take your dog on trips because they are easier to fold and fit into small spaces.
If you like clean, straight lines, square and rectangular beds may appeal to you, provided of course they give your dog the maximum amount of comfort.
Round and oval dog beds
Round dog beds perhaps more naturally accommodate and hug smaller dogs and those that don’t need a lot of space and prefer to sleep snugly in a cavelike bed that does not make them feel exposed. Oval beds have all these benefits, while still allowing more space to stretch out.
For puppies, who like to chew on things, the lack of corners may be a subtle benefit.
If your dog bed is placed in the centre of a room, or in a corner where space is not an issue, round or oval beds often better match the room layout.
Easy to clean
All dog owners can testify that adventure and fun always take precedence over care to stay clean.
Dog beds should be washed at least once a week to keep them free from bacteria, dirt, mites, and germs that can make your dog sick or worsen allergies or skin conditions.
Choosing the wrong bed can mean a load of work and aggravation for you. It is important to choose a dog bed that can be cleaned with minimal fuss and bother.
Our dog bed covers are made from fabrics that are removable and fully machine washable, or they can be rinsed off under a tap, to effortlessly keep them clean and attractive.
Décor
Our stylish patterns in different colours will complement any home décor, making your dog’s bed part of the furniture and decorations.
Even though your dog is technically colour blind and the pattern and colour will probably make little difference to him, he will sense your attitude towards his bed and that will make him feel good about it. For your enjoyment and matching any colour scheme, our Haven range of dog beds offers our signature tartan pattern in blue grey navy, brown burgundy rust, olive heather chestnut, and charcoal black taupe. Our classic cord comes in grey and beige, and our classic check pattern in brown burgundy and blue grey.
Other popular shapes
Cave dog beds, doughnut beds, elevated beds, box beds, and flat mattresses or cushion beds. These shapes will usually suit a particular breed or size of dog, with specific preferences.
Quality and durability
The lifespan of a dog bed is usually determined by the dog’s growth and behaviour, like chewing on the bed, scratching the floor, and how well you maintain the bed. Nevertheless, you will want to get the best value for the money you have invested in making your dear pet comfortable.
Pet Luxury dog beds are made from the best materials for the mattress, lining, and cover.
The quality of our beds is backed by a 3 year guarantee on the seams and zippers, which are usually the first to go on a dog bed.
